Leap for Life's Scholarship for Health Innovation
The Health Innovation Scholarship aims to encourage students at Halmstad University to use their bachelor's, one-year master's, or two-year master's thesis to highlight important issues and create innovative solutions to the current challenges within health, care, and welfare. These solutions may involve new ways of working, products, or services.
Leap for Life aims to promote innovation and change within the health sector, and this scholarship is intended to support young innovators and contribute to a more innovative and sustainable future in health. We welcome your application!
About the Scholarship
The scholarship amount is 10,000 kronor and is awarded to one thesis.
Who Can Apply?
You must be enrolled in a degree programme at Halmstad University (e.g. a Bachelor's or Master's programme) during the spring semester of 2026, in a course (15–30 credits, at undergraduate or advanced level) where the goal is to write an academic thesis at the end of your studies.

Winner and Award Ceremony
The winning thesis will be selected by an expert panel consisting of representatives from Halland’s municipalities, Halmstad University, the business community, and Region Halland. The evaluation will focus on how well the thesis addresses current challenges within health, care, and welfare, as well as its potential to drive long-term change at both individual and societal levels. The scholarships will be awarded during the University’s graduation fair, Utexpo, on 4 June at 3:30 pm (15:30).
Information to Include in Your Application
For the scholarship committee to make a fair and thorough assessment, your application needs to clearly demonstrate the problem being addressed, the value created, and what is innovative about your proposal.
If you are applying together with someone else, ensure that everyone’s personal details are included. Keep it short. An application typically corresponds to around 3–5 A4 pages.

- Problem and Need – Describe the target group and their needs. What specific challenge within health, care or welfare does your thesis address?
- Results and practical application – What is your proposed solution or main finding? How could it be put into practice? How have you engaged with the target group or other relevant stakeholders?
- Benefits for patients and the wider system – What tangible benefits does your solution offer to patients or users? What impact might it have on healthcare staff, organisations, or society more broadly?
- Innovation and context – What other solutions or approaches are currently in use? What makes your solution different from existing alternatives?
- Potential and next steps – What potential does your solution have for wider use? What steps would be needed to take it further (e.g. implementation, further research, or commercial development)? Provide clear examples of how sustainability, equality, and inclusion have been considered in your work.
- Why your thesis? Why should your thesis be awarded the scholarship, and how would you use the funding?

Eligibility Criteria for the Scholarship
To be eligible for the scholarship, the following criteria must be met:
You must be enrolled in a degree programme at Halmstad University (e.g. a Bachelor's or Master's programme) and registered during the spring semester of 2025 in a course comprising 15–30 credits at undergraduate or advanced level. The course must be part of the final stage of your programme and aimed at producing an academic thesis (e.g. a degree project).
The thesis must either:
- analyse a specific problem, or
- contribute to innovation in the fields of healthcare.
