At Halmstad University, there is qualified research within, for example, applied AI and Health Innovation. Within Leap for Life, the University conducts a number of research projects together with the business sector and public sector, with a focus on information driven care.
CAISR Health is a research profile within information driven care at Halmstad University, where research on the development of AI tools meet research on how these tools can be implemented in healthcare. The research is carried out in close collaboration with the companies Cambio, Capio Sverige, Hallandia V, Mölnlycke, Novartis, InterSystem and Visiba Care along with Region Halland and Brigham and Women's Hospital.

Region Halland, Halmstad University and the municipalities in Halland, together with The Swedish Association of Local Authorities and Regions (SALAR) and AI Sweden, are building an innovation environment to improve Swedish healthcare. The initiative, which is funded by Vinnova, aims to develop healthcare to become more information driven, individualised and scalable by using artificial intelligence (AI). This is done in close collaboration with public, private and academic parties.

Halmstad University conducts education and research within two profile areas, Health Innovation and Smart Cities and Communities, with a basis in three prominent doctoral education areas: Information Technology, Innovation Sciences, and Health and Lifestyle.
Health Innovation is a profile area of interdisciplinary education and research that addresses health challenges through trans-disciplinary and value-creating research and education in collaboration with stakeholders in society. The profile area's focus is "Personalized proactive care" within which two areas are defined – "Information driven care" and "Co-created care improvement". It is foremost within the area of information driven care that the profile area Health Innovation and Leap for Life collaborates.
