Innovation Support

There is a well-developed innovation support system and great experience from supporting innovations in the business sector in Halland. For example, through Centre for Health Technology Halland (the former name for Leap for Life). Between 2015 and 2020, the Centre for Health Technology Halland worked with 140 organisations in different innovation projects, test projects and competence panels.

The innovation projects’ goal is to strengthen Hallands innovation power and contribute to increased growth. By focusing on products and services for the future healthcare, we develop ideas together.

Capacity for Quality Assurance of Health Apps

The rapid development of digital health services has led to a significant increase in the number of health apps available on the market. Today, there are more than 270,000 health apps accessible in Sweden, yet there is no unified national framework for quality assurance. This creates challenges for manufacturers, the public sector, and individual users alike.

Currently, municipalities and regions are responsible for independently assessing and assuring the quality of health apps. This results in higher development costs for companies and a slower rate of implementation. At the same time, private individuals lack clear information about which apps are safe and effective to use.

The aim of the project is to strengthen knowledge and capacity within the public sector for the quality assurance of health apps. This, in turn, is intended to ensure that more safe and effective digital health services are brought into use.

Innovations for Personalised Care

Swedish healthcare is currently undergoing a historic transformation, with the goal of organising and delivering care with greater focus on the individual needs and circumstances of each patient. Personalised Care serves as an overarching objective for this transformation. The business sector plays an important role as a developer of products and services for the healthcare system, where adapting to growing needs is crucial to meeting market challenges. Collaboration is key to creating innovative and tailored solutions that benefit both healthcare providers and end users.

The aim of the project is to strengthen and increase the innovation capacity of West Sweden by supporting small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) in the region. The objective is to develop and offer activities that create the conditions and opportunities for businesses to contribute to the transition towards high-quality, personalised care.

Health Data Sweden

Health Data Sweden (HDS) is a national initiative comprising 18 collaborative partners, including universities, university colleges, regions, innovation environments, and research institutes. The strength of this digital innovation hub lies in its cutting-edge expertise in the field of health data, combined with an ecosystem formed by the partners’ networks. Through HDS, knowledge and services will be transferred to the public sector, businesses, and ultimately to citizens.

One of the aims of Health Data Sweden is to increase both the use of and access to health data in order to contribute to more efficient healthcare. A key task will be to meet the high demand for services that enable small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), in collaboration with the public sector, to develop new digital health and welfare services. In addition to improving individual health, these services can also help address major demographic and societal challenges — such as making healthcare more accessible and equitable. Project period: 2023–2026

CareWare Nordic 2

During the first phase of the project, a number of meeting places were developed for municipalities, companies, and educational institutions. As well as platforms for sharing the latest knowledge and experience in the field of welfare technology. These platforms and meeting places will be used in the next phase of the project to further strengthen collaboration between companies, public organisations, academia, and civil society around the development of new shared solutions that contribute to better and more skills development, needs identification, user involvement, and implementation in welfare.

The purpose of the project is to link academia, municipalities and regions for joint development and innovation across the entire Öresund-Kattegat-Skagerrak area (ÖKS). By spreading and sharing knowledge about the best welfare technology solutions, value is created for both citizens, companies and authorities.
